Project Details

Built in 2002, Allen Fire Station One, also known as the City of Allen Central Fire Station, houses the administration offices and serves the central part of the city. The facility is a full-functioning fire station that includes an advanced training facility, a four-story training tower, and office space for administrative staff.

The station, separated by five apparatus bays is designed with the administration area on one side of the facility with sleep quarters and training area on the other side.

The single-story training area includes a 9,780 SF expansion, renovating the twelve sleeping quarters, locker, office, and kitchen spaces.

The 15,540 SF existing central fire station and administration offices underwent a renovation. The first floor of the administration building includes new core men’s and women’s restrooms, a fitness room, training classrooms, bunker gear storage, offices, and conference rooms. The second floor of the admin building includes new core men’s and women’s restrooms, conference rooms, and multiple offices and workspaces.

RWB provided professional engineering services for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design to accommodate the renovated fire station. Our work included upgrading the existing HVAC system, adding an emergency generator system (natural gas with propane back up), and adding a storm shelter was in compliance with the 2015 IBC/ICC 500 – 2014.

The total renovation and expansion for this project cost $5.5M.
