Garland ISD Harris Hill Administration Building
RWB Consulting Engineers was honored to receive the 2024 Building Technology Award for their exemplary work on the Garland ISD Harris Hill Administration Building. The project aimed to resolve the complaints made by the building owner and occupants, which included inadequate cooling, poor maintenance access, and high energy bills. RWB partnered with Glen Partners on this project as a sub-consultant to perform an HVAC retrofit, resulting in improved comfort, easier equipment maintenance, and lower energy consumption.
Did you know that RWB Consulting Engineers has a low-voltage group? That’s right. RWB provides this type of service and most recently was awarded the low-voltage package on the new Social Service Center for The Salvation Army Dallas Campus. The project scope will include a 21-acre site of five (5) new buildings. The Low-Voltage system design will include security cameras, access control, structured cabling, wireless access point coordination, and IT Room design.

RWB employees participated in a chili cookoff. Eight contestants with a palette of tastes, cooked chili with no beans, chicken chili, and a knock-out chili that left your taste buds wondering. Thank you to our judges, David Cutlip and Marc Alvarez, McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., and RWB Principal Ken Fulk.
Employees enjoyed their first year running and walking at the annual Form Follows Fitness 5K at Klyde Warren Park on February 17, 2024. The race began with a chilly, brisk run, and it finished with sunshine and a fun metal design of the Dallas West End.
On March 2, 2024, the Collin College Foundation organized a scholarship fundraiser with the theme ‘Havana Nights’. The ballroom was filled with vibrant colors, and everyone embraced the Cuban style, creating a lively and enjoyable atmosphere. We had a blast participating in a trivia challenge against industry partners, and we did quite well, answering the majority of the questions. It was a spectacular time of fun and laughter!
A group of our RWB colleagues recently took part in the 2024 Dallas ASHRAE Spring Golf Classic, held at the Cowboys Golf Club, to raise funds and show support for ASHRAE’s events throughout the year. One of our mechanical engineers, Christine Miner, is also the Treasurer for the ASHRAE Dallas Chapter. On the 25th and 26th of April, at the LIVE by Loews Hotel in Arlington, TX, ASHRAE will be holding its Chapter Regional Conference (CRC) and 3rd annual Engineering Summit, which the proceeds from the golf classic tournament help fund.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce the expansion of our office team with the addition of these exceptional individuals. Lauren Rush joined the mechanical group in February and is focused on the education market. In the past two years, Lauren has worked in the plumbing and mechanical automotive industry. Loana Modaber joined our CAD team in March with a background in drafting design and a passion for electrical engineering. She is motivated and committed to learning and delivering quality results. Steve Benefield is the latest addition to the Low Voltage group. His unique blend of hands-on design experience and deep understanding of technology systems perfectly fit the team.
We are happy to announce that a new group of summer interns will join RWB’s mechanical team in May for their internship program. We are thrilled to have them on board and have already paired them with our mentors. Our internship program continues to grow in popularity due to the experiences and training our interns gain at our firm. In response to that, we are excited to launch a new internal design competition module to our internship program we are rolling out this summer. Check back in Q3 for highlights on the winning design.
Robert Frick and Keith Douglas, RWB leaders, will be present at this year’s A4LE annual regional conference in Galveston from May 6 to May 9. You can visit Booth #37 and chat with them after one of the sessions to get an update on RWB Consulting Engineers. We have some impressive projects starting design and opening in the Dallas-Fort Worth areas.
